What's in a Number?

Given the media and blogosphere storms over the Miers nomination, wouldn't you think that (after 5 days) there would have been more than 3,500 signatures on the David Frum / National Review petition urging the Bush Administration to withdraw her nomination to the High Court?

Could Ed Gillespie be right -- namely, that the negative reaction is confined to a small pundocratic media elite that includes Frum, Ingraham, Fund and Scribbler de Stebbing?

What is in a number?

I think the John Fund report finishes Miers. The Dems will have to oppose her at all costs. Because she has weak support from Conservatives, she will go no where.

Ah, Mr. Rimpi, the number is now 4,274 and counting. . .

But how many peasants read the National Review Online? Never I until yesterday.

Were the Scribbler free to whip up some action for the petition, she would. Unfortunately, this week is she's up to her eyeballs in lawyer-killing.
