Vintage Nino on Foreign Law
The Harvard Crimson had this sampling of classic Scalia that was served up at a talk by Justices Scalia and Breyer at Harvard Law School on Wednesday of this week.
“What can a foreign decision possibly tell me about the meaning of a text adopted by an American legislature, or by the American people?” Scalia said. “Nothing at all.”
“I agree that if you believe in a living Constitution...then, of course, consult foreign law,” he continued. “Why not? I mean, consult a Ouija board....”
Priceless.

Ah, were we to find just one more like him . . .
There are plenty like him. They just don't get nominated. In the past, this was because we needed stealth candidates to get through a Democratic Senate. Now, with 55 Republicans, and at least 52 of them solid, I have no idea.
They certainly don't get nominated. There are very few in the public spotlight or in positions of any regard.
